What I’ve been wanting to write about:
Just over three weeks ago, while I was still at “teacher camp”, I picked up a copy of The International Herald Tribune. That, apparently, is “The Global Edition of The New York Times” (I just realized this). Cover Story: This Century’s Challenge. A women’s world special report. Pictures of students at the Mirwais Mena School for Girls on the outskirts of Kandahar, Indian women, Annie Lennox battling HIV in South Africa, and of course, Hilary Clinton. Mmm…not that interesting. My eyes wander to an emboldened statistic on the bottom half of the page: More girls died in the last 50 years because they were girls, than men were killed in all the wars of the 20th century.
